- Member, Executive Council, Florida Bar Labor & Employment Section – the Executive Council is the policy-making and governing body of the Labor & Employment Section;
- Co-Founder and Past President, National Employment Lawyers Association, Florida Chapter – the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) is the largest association of lawyers on the employee side of labor and employment cases; Rick Johnson was an original founder of the Florida chapter and was the President who established its operations as a regular, ongoing organization;

GENDER JUSTICE ACTIVITIES
- Founding member: Tallahassee Rape Crisis Center (1972) – this a beeper-carrying network of volunteer crisis counselors in the days before cell phones; merged with Refuge House about 1979.
- Co-Founder: North Florida Women’s Health & Counseling Services, Inc. (1981) – this clinic provides a full range of gynecological services including termination of pregnancy; also provides psychological counseling services.
- Board member: Refuge House (1981-92) (three terms as president) – this is a shelter for victims of domestic violence
- “Good Guy” Award 1997, Florida Women’s Political Caucus – this is an occasional award made to a man who has advanced the cause of gender equality and justice
